Transcendent Memory exhibition

“Transcendent Memory: State Violence, Solidarity, and Community-Based Research in Postwar El Salvador” explores the ongoing work of remembrance and reconstruction of the history of the Salvadoran civil war through community memory. The different sections address massacre documentation and commemorations, the creation of memorial spaces, the repopulation of displaced communities, and artistic interpretations of home, memory, and collective identity. It brings together photographs, architectural drawings, graphic narratives, textiles, and prints. Together, these works highlight the connections between art, community collaboration, and the pursuit of memory, healing, and justice.
