PhD thesis
I did my PhD in Hispanic Studies at Western University. Since my undergrad at Universidad de Guadalajara, I was studying Mexican Colonial painters and was especially interested in local painters and their relationship dynamics. After following the life of Francisco de León for my undegrad, and Diego de Cuentas for my Master’s in Art History, I wanted to expand my research into the workshop dynamics and establish connections between the so-called “minor” artists and the canonical. In the end, I designed a database where I recorded the information about painters, their paintings, and their important life events. Then, I used Social Network Analysis to look at these relationships and detect patterns. This work marked my full formal entry into the field of Digital Humanities.
