Objetos elocuentes, colección reveladora: El Museo del Juguete Antiguo México

Driven by a personal interest in collecting, classifying, and organizing objects, collector Roberto Shimizu established a public exhibition space in 2006 to introduce visitors to the objects in his collection and highlight their significance. This initiative serves as a starting point for the author’s reflections on the origins of museums, which objects are considered worthy of being “museum-worthy,” the relationship between collectors and their objects, and how an individual’s desire and initiative can ultimately shape a community’s collective memory.
