De la narrativa documental al dato estructurado: anotación semántica con Recogito en un corpus de pintores coloniales en México

Published in Publicaciones de la Asociación Argentina de Humanidades Digitales, 2025

This article (in Spanish) presents a methodological exercise for transforming historical narrative sources into structured data through semantic annotation with Recogito. As part of my doctoral research project on painters in Mexico (1680–1730), I examined a corpus of 23 parish documents associated with the Cuentas family, a dynasty active in several cities in New Spain. The article describes the workflow from transcription to data export, including the use of controlled vocabularies, disambiguation strategies, and label hierarchies. The study highlights both the potential of Recogito as an adaptable tool for generating reusable datasets and the limitations inherent in the selected source material. It argues that transforming narrative into tabular data is an interpretive process that requires a clear data model, consistent protocols, and a critical reading of documentary absences.
